Congenital Rectoiaginal Fistula in Adult

Abstract

|
Patients with congenital ano-rectal malformation may present themselves to the surgeon at any age group depending on the type of malformation with which they are born. Urgent surgery in infancy is required for those without an external orifice to the lower intestinal tract and for those with an obstruction secondary to intestinal aganglionosis. However, pati-ents with an ectopic anus of fairly adequate size or those with partial fecal continence tend to be referred to the surgeon later in childhood and sometimes in early adulthood. Presented here is a case of "imperforate anus" with low rectovaginal fistula in a 21 year-old female.
